RHINOCEROSES
Rhinoceroses are wild animals which live in the forest.
They have large heavy bodies. Their skins are very thick. They have horns on their noses. Their weight can be more than 2.250 kilograms for each.
Rhinoceroses eat grass. They have so good muscle structures that they can run and change directions very fast. They can sprint at 56 km an hour. Rhinoceros have been reported to enter campsites at night, they scatter smoldering logs of fire, and then peacefully walk away. Rhinoceroses don’t have very good eyesight for distance. The oxpeckers always accompany them. They give them warning system.
Rhinoceroses are hunted for their horns. They are used to make traditional medicine. The rhinos are listed as endangered on the Red List of Threatened species.

1. The general characteristic
(a) Communicative purpose:
To describe a particular thing, person or place.
(b) Generic Structure
● Identification
● Description of physical characteristics, behaviour, habit, etc.
(c) Language Feature: Using
· nouns tertentu, such as teacher, house,my cat, dsb.
· simple present tense.
· detailed noun phrase to give information about subject, example, It was a large open rowboat, a sweet young lady, dsb.
· kinds of adjectives, for describing, numbering, classifying, example, two strong legs, sharp white fangs, dsb.
· relating verbs to give information about , example, My mum is realy cool, It has very thick fur, dsb.
· thinking verbs and feeling verbs , example Police believe the suspect is armed, I think it is a clever animal, dsb.

· abverbials example fast, at the tree house, dsb.

· action verbs , to explain behaviour, example, lizards cannot fly, etc.
· present tense to describe something in general, example, Komodo dragons usually weight more than 160 kg, dsb.
· using technical terms, example, water contains oxygen and hydrogen, etc.
