The Blonde and the Lawyer
A blonde and a lawyer are seated next to each other on a flight from LA to NY. The lawyer asks if she would like to play a fun game.
The blonde, tired, just wants to take a nap, politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks.
The lawyer persists and explains that the game is easy and a lot of fun.
He explains, “I ask you a question, and if you don’t know the answer, you pay me $5.00, and vise versa.”
Again, she declines and tries to get some sleep. The lawyer, now agitated, says, “Okay, if you don’t know the answer you pay me $5.00, and if I don’t know the answer, I will pay you $500.00.”
This catches the blonde’s attention and, figuring there will be no end to this torment unless she plays, agrees to the game. The lawyer asks the first question. “What’s the distance from the earth to the moon?” The blonde doesn’t say a word, reaches into her purse, pulls out a $5.00 bill and hands it to the lawyer. “Okay” says the lawyer, “your turn.”
She asks the lawyer, “What goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four legs?” The lawyer, puzzled, takes out his laptop computer and searches all his references, no answer. He taps into the air phone with his modem and searches the net and the library of congress, no answer. Frustrated, he sends e-mails to all his friends and coworkers, to no avail. After an hour, he wakes the blonde, and hands her $500.00.
The blonde says, “Thank you”, and turns back to get some more sleep.
The lawyer, who is more than a little miffed, wakes the blonde and asks, “Well, what’s the answer?” Without a word, the blonde reaches into her purse, hands the lawyer $5.00, and goes back to sleep.

saya minta artikel tentang pro dan kontranya tayangan tv anak2 yang tidak mendidik..
yang mengajarkan kekerasan...
The government has just published a report which suggest that television is partly responsible for the serious increase in crime over the last ten years. The exposure of violence or pornography harmfully effects on children.
Many people who are alive today know what it is like to live in a world without television. Television as we know is only about forty years old. Yet it is so much a part of our lives that it seems as if it had always existed.
Some people think that the years before the invention of television were a better time. They claim that families talked more and did more things together. More books were read. People used their imaginations more fully. People got more outdoor exercises.
But others disagree. They claim that television is a powerful educational tool. It informs us of what is going on in the world, from a famine in Africa to a local politics and fashion. It helps us understand how people live, work, and struggle.
In 1961, Newton Minow, a government official, called prime-time schedules “ a vast wasteland.” Television is credited with being a great teacher, but it is also blamed for the poor reading and writing skills of our population. Television gets praised for helping us understand the people of the world. But it has been accused of helping to destroy family life. Television keeps us informed about the political issues of the day.
Experts will probably continue to argue about television’s value. But everyone agrees that it is one of the most significant inventions of the twentieth century

Mohon jawaban untuk bacaan ini :
National exam becomes the hot topic in most of discussion. Though the Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by the government on the implementation of the national exams, the controversy over whether it is essential to maintain the national exams has continued. Some debates include the primary questions such as : "Does the quality of Indonesian education rely on national exams?", "Will the quality of the Indonesian education system worsen without national examination?"
The government said that the objective of the National School examination was to raise the standard of education in our country. The minister of education added "The quality of the Indonesian education system will drop without the national examination because of that we will defend the current system". He said that besides improving the standard of education, the National School Examination was also to measure the fairness and the honesty of the participating students. There are also other reasons why national exam to be maintained. One of them is to nurture and balance out the diversity of Indonesia's human resources which are different from one region to another.
However, there are people who disagree with the opinion. Those who are against this nationa examination say that it doesn't need the national examination because the quality of education does not depend on the national examination. Further, the national examination only measures small portion of students' competence in specific subjects and does not measure students' competence throughout the year. They also argue that there are many frauds in its aplication; leaking documents, answer and question sheets as well as shamanism.
In fact national examination can still be useful as an instrument to evaluate or detect the level of students' cognitive competence in several subjects on a national scale. Ultimately, the nationa exam needs support and improvement.
Pertanyaan:
1. From the text above we learn that ...
a. there are more disadvantages than the advantages of national exams.
b. most people of Indonesia want to stop the national examinations.
c. the writer agrees with the national examinations
d. the writer doesn't want the national exams to be continued.
e. national exam is successful to improve the quality of education in our country.
Yg benar yg mana, bu ? B / C. mOhon alasannya.
2. The text tells us about...
a. the benefit and the weakness of national exams
b. the reasons why national exams should be stopped
c. disagreement with the national exam by the students
d. the advantages and disadvantages of national exams
e. the reasons why the government wants to continue national exam.
Yg betul yg A / D ? Mohon penjelasannya. Apa beda disadvantage dan weakness sama advantage dan benefit ?
