 FineClothes

The Emperor always wore the finest clothes in the Empire. He was very proud of his fine clothes, so when some men started advertising a new type of clothes “finer than the Emperor’s” he immediately went to see for himself. He asked the men why the new clothes were finer than this, but the men would not tell him. “That is our secret,” they said. Finally, the Emperor decided to buy all of the new clothes so that he would still have the finest clothes in the Empire. As he walked out of the shop wearing some of new clothes, a child shouted, “Look! The Emperor understood the “secret” of his fine new clothes.

 Momotaro

Once upon a time, there lived in Japan a peasant and his wife. They were sad couple because they had no children. They kept praying to their god pleading to give them a child.

While cutting wood by a stream one day, the man saw a large peach floating on the water. He ran to pick it up. His wife was excited because she had never seen such a large peach before. They were about to cut the peach when they heard a voice from inside.

The couples were surprised to do anything. The peach then cracked open, and there was a beautiful baby inside. The couples were very happy, of course. They named the baby Momotaro, which meant ‘peach boy’.

Momotaro grew up to be clever, courage young man.  His parents loved him very much.

One day, Momotaro told his parents hat he was going to fight the pirates who always attacked their village. These pirates lived on an island a few kilometers away. Momotaro’s mother packed his food, and his father gave him a sword. Having blessed Momotaro, they sent him off on his journey.

Sailing on his boat, Momotaro met an eagle going in the same direction. They became good friends; soon, both of them arrived on the island of the pirates.

Momotaro drew out the sacred sword his father had given him and began to fight the pirates. The eagle flew over the thieves’ heads, pecking at their eyes. Finally, the pirates were defeated.

Momotaro brought home all the goods that pirates had stolen. His parents were proud of him, and they were overjoyed at his victory and save return.

Hunting

 

Once upon a time there was a man who liked hunting very much.  He often went to the forest to hunt any animal he met.

One day he went hunting into the forest.  He intended to shoot any animal he saw.  He brought his gun with him.  When he was searching for his prey, suddenly he saw a bird perching on a branch of a tree.  It was a dove.  When he was aiming his gun at the dove, suddenly an ant came and bit his foot.  He was so startled that he didn’t shoot the dove.  It was safe and then flew away.

Several days later, the dove was flying over a lake.  He saw an ant floating on the surface of the water.  It was the ant that had saved the dove’s life from the hunter.  The ant was almost drowned.  The dove got an idea, he picked up a big leaf and dropped it onto the surface of the water near the ant.  Luckily the ant could get on the leaf.

The ant tried to bring the leaf to the edge of the lake and landed on the ground.  The ant was safe because the dove helped him.

 

3.      From the story we can conclude that both the ant and the dove are a good example for human beings because…..

Tsunami
The term of “tsunami” comes from the Japanese which means harbour ("tsu") and wave ("nami"). A tsunami is a series of waves generated when water in a lake or a sea is rapidly displaced on a massive scale.

A tsunami can be generated when the sea floor abruptly deforms and vertically displaces the overlying water. Such large vertical movements of the earth's crust can occur at plate boundaries.

Subduction of earthquakes are particularly effective in generating tsunami, and occur where denser oceanic plates slip under continental plates.

As the displaced water mass moves under the influence of gravity to regain its equilibrium, it radiates across the ocean like ripples on a pond.

Tsunami always bring great damage. Most of the damage is caused by the huge mass of water behind the initial wave front, as the height of the sea keeps rising fast and floods powerfully into the coastal area.




TSUNAMIS

A tsunami is a series of waves generated when water in a lake or in the sea is rapidly displaced on a massive scale. Earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions and large meteorite impacts all have the potential to generate a tsunami. The effects of a tsunami can range from unnoticeable to devastating.
The term of tsunami comes from the Japanese language meaning harbour (tsu) and wave (nami). Although in Japanese tsunami is used for both singular and plural, in English “tsunamis” is well-established as the plural. The term was created by fisherman who returned to port to find the area surrounding the harbour devastated, although they had not been aware of any wave in the open water. A tsunami is not a sub-surface event in the deep ocean; it simply has a much smaller amplitude (wave heights) offshore, a very long wavelength (often hundreds kilometers long), which is why they generally pass unnoticed at sea, forming only a passing “hump” in the ocean.
Tsunamis have been historically referred to as “tidal waves” because as they approach land they take on the characteristics of a violent onrushing tide rather than the sort of cresting waves that are formed by wind action upon the ocean (with which people are more familiar). However, since they are not related to tides, the term is considered misleading and its usage is discouraged by oceanographers.

 

 

How Earthquakes Happen

Earthquake is one of the most destroying natural disasters. Unluckily it often happens in several regions. Recently a horrible earthquake has shaken West Sumatra. It has brought great damages. Why did it occur? Do you know how an earthquake happens?

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves. It make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. They don't just slide smoothly. The rocks are still pushing against each other, but not moving. After a while, the rocks break because of all the pressure that's built up. When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.

During the earthquake and afterward, the plates or blocks of rock start moving, and they continue to move until they get stuck again. The spot underground where the rock breaks is called the focus of the earthquake. The place right above the focus is called the epicenter of the earthquake.

Having a kite flying is interesting and make it by self is easy. Prepare the following materials to make a kite:

Butcher cord
Scotch tape or glue
1 Sheet of strong paper
2 Strong, straight wooden sticks of bamboo
Markers, paint or crayons After the materials have been prepared, the directions bellow is easy instruction on how to make a kite:
1. Make a cross with the two sticks, with the shorter stick placed horizontally across the longer stick.
2. Tie the two sticks together with the string in such a way as to make sure that they are at right angles to each other.
3. Cut a notch at each end of the sticks. Make it deep enough for the type of string you are using to fit in to. Cut a piece of string long enough to stretch all around the kite frame.
4. Lay the sail material flat and place the stick frame face down on top. Cut around it, leaving about 2-3cm for a margin. Fold these edges over and glue it down so that the material is tight.
5. Make a tail by tying a small ribbon roughly every 10cm along the length of string.
6. Decorate your kite with the markers!

saya ingin brtanya beberapa kosakata dalam sebuah paragraf yang sangat membinngungkan, ketika saya cari kamus bahkan kamus kalimat inggris online artinya masih tidak bisa saya mengerti,

1. after year 7 artinya apa y ? kalimat lengkapnya adalah \'last year (after year 7\'.

2. grand ? kalimat lengkapnya I flew to Canada with my grand.

3.birdbath in aeroplane

4. how tricky that little operation was

5. what I would have given for a shower and a washing machine

6. grand made into a wrap around - skirt

7. no one else seem in the least concerned

1. After year 7... --> artinya disini setelah kelas 7.

2. I flew to Canada with my grand. Kata grand disini maksud nya bisa grandfather

    atau grand mother.

3.  birthbath in aeroplane. Kata birthbath artinya sebuah tempat berisi air untuk

    mandi burung atau untuk tempat minum burung.Dalam konteks kalimat diatas

    yang dimaksud birthbath adalah tempat cuci tangan yang ada di dalam toilet

    pesawat.

4. how tricky that little operation was --> maksudnya betapa kegiatan/aktifitas itu

    menjebak.

5. what I would have given for a shower and a washing machine. --> apa yang sudah

    akan saya berikan untuk  mandi dan mesin cuci.

6. grand made into a wrap around - skirt --> nenek/ kakek membuatnya menjadi

    bahan pembungkus badan - sebuah rok.

    sedikitpun.
