Afif, thanks for your question. To make a good essay you need to know types of texts. For example, when you want to write your argument/opinion you have to know the exposition text with its generic structure. Then, you'd better to have a lot of vocabularies. For this, please you read many English books to get them. And you need to know tenses well for your sentences. I think it's better if you also have a good knowledge to support your essay.Good-luck for the test.

Thanks for your question. Do you mean the purpose of report and news item text? Well, the purpose of report text is to describe the way things are (for example: a man -made thing, animals, plants).The things must be representative of their class. And the purpose of news item text is to inform readers or listeners about events of the day which are considered newsworthy or important.

Well, biography is one genre/type of writing. This is a form recounting someone past activities. So this is a recount but in the form of descriptive. That would be the purpose to recount someone. Usually a prominent person.
We do need it because we can remember or recall someone legacy for example. We can also learn something from the biography of someone.
