THE MIGHTIEST ARCHIPELAGO
The Indonesian archipelago is by far the world’s largest group of 13.667 islands which stretches across 5.120 km (3.200 miles) of tropical seas like a string of emeralds. When superimposed on a map of North America, Indonesia stretches from Oregon all the way to Bermuda. On a map of Europe, the archipelago extends from Ireland past the Caspian Sea. More than 200 million people inhabit this archipelago.
Known to anthropologists and naturalist as “The Malay equatorial line”, the equatorial line is an imaginary line dividing the earth into two parts from east to west in the tropical zone. This makes Indonesia have two seasons, the wet and dry season. Because of its location, many kinds of flora and fauna live here. According to the astronomical location, Indonesia lies between 6” North Latitude and 11” South Latitude and between 95” East Longitude and 141” East Longitude.

The stem is the main axis of the plant. It develops buds and shoots it functions in transportations through vascular tissues xylem and phloem. Xylem transport water and dissolved material from the root upward to the leaf Phloem transport food material downward from the leaf to the body cell. It also function in food storage.
The leaf is usually a flat lateral out growth from stem or branch. The primary function of leaf is to produce food by photosynthesis. A leaf usually has chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is an important things in photosynthesis, a process of carbohydrate formation from carbon dioxide and water.
Teks diatas termasuk Descriptive karena memberikan gambaran (to describe) fungsi dari bagian tumbuhan. Teks tersebut merupakan bagian dari paragraf sebelumnya yang memberikan gambaran tentang tumbuhan.

Expressions of attitudes are used to describe people, for example angry, bad-tempered, jealous, talkative, etc.
Ex:
My sister is always bad-tempered when she gets her period and becomes angry at me for no reason at all.

Polite expressions are used to have a conversation with older people or guests (formal ), ex:
Would you help me?
Would you like to help me, please?
It's better if we don't use impolite expressions. It will hurt them.
Impolite expressions are rude.

Kalau bacaannya ttg DOGS termasuk REPORT, sedangkan kalau "MY BROWNIE" itu termasuk DESCRIPTION, jelas sekali perbedaannya. Tetapi kalau untuk teks yang ini saya kok tidak begitu jelas dng perbedaannya. Spt contoh BOROBUDUR TEMPLE itu termasuk DESCRIPTION, tetapi kalo TEMPLES secara umum termasuk REPORT. Benar begitu ya, Pak/Bu? Jadi saya berpikir kalau COUNTRY secara umum itu termasuk REPORT, tetapi kalo Cameroon itu kan hanya salah satu negara di Afrika Barat saja, jadi saya berkesimpulan kalau teks ttg CAMEROON ini termasuk DESCRIPTION. begitu Pak/Bu. Begitu jg dng teks yg kedua ttg "PART of THE PLANT". Sesuai dng jawaban Bpk/Ibu, teks tsb termasuk DESCRIPTION. Yg buat saya bingung: di teks tsb kan tidak membahas ttg salah satu bagian tanaman secara khusus, hanya secara umum (batang, daun, dsb) nya sehingga saya berpikir sebaliknya kalau teks ini termasuk teks REPORT. Some text types are quite difficult to differ. Such report and descriptive text have the similarity in the social function and generic structure. However if they are analyzed carefully, the slight difference between the two text types will reveal.
The purpose of the two texts are to give the live-description of the object/participant. Both the report and descriptive text try to show rather than tell the reader about the factual condition of the object. Readers by themselves will catch the impressive point of the object through that showing writing style. What make different, between report and descriptive text, is the scope of the written object. If we talk about, eg: bicycle, it belongs to report text. It will talk about bicycle in general; its parts, physical strengh, function for certain people or other general characters of bike. In the other hand, descriptive text will convey more focus, for example "my bicycle" with its specific characters; colour, lengh, wheel style, etc.
In short, report text describes the way of certain things and frequently refer to phenomenon of nature, animal and scientific object. Mostly, report is written after getting careful observation. This scientific and technical sense make clearer difference from descriptive text. The way of descriptive text in showing thing is based on the objective fact of the thing. It describe the specific thing simply as the thing is.
