Houdini was planning to perform an escape from a steel trunk wrapped in chains and dropped into a frozen river. Because the river was so cold, he’d only have a few minutes to escape in order to survive. They wrapped Houdini in a straight jacket, locked him into the trunk, secured the chains, and then dropped him into the river through a hole cut into the ice. Minutes passed and Houdini did not appear. When enough time has passed to make it appear that Houdini’s escape has failed, the grief stricken party left the scene and reported that Houdini had died. One friend remained at the hole in the ice, not yet convinced that Houdini had drowned. To this utter amazement, Houdini did indeed surface at the spot.When the half-frozen artist had recovered enough, the told his friend that he hadn’t accounted for the current of the river under the ice. The river had carried the trunk, he couldn’t find the hole cut into the ice. He managed to get oxygen from air pockets caught between the ice and the water, but he had no way of finding the hole through the thick ice. Then he heard his mother’s voice calling him. He followed her voce, and it led him to the hole in the ice where his friend was waiting.
This was amazing, first, because his mother lived in another city and was nowhere hear the scene of the frozen river. But it is more amazing than that was the fact that when Houdini tried to call his mother, he was informed that she had died just hours before.

HOW RICE IS SERVED ON YOUR DINING-TABLEDo you have rice as your staple food? But have you ever thought how rice is served on your dining-table. Let’s see the process, shall we?
First of all, grains are grown on rice fields. When the grains are ripe enough, they are harvested and stored in silos. Later, they are sent into the mills to remove their husks. When the husks have been removed from the grains, they are called rice.
The rice is then kept in sacks. After that, the sacks are sent to the stores. The prices vary among the rice according to its quality. The rice is bought by the consumers and carried home.
At home, the rice is washed and cooked in a rice cooker or a simmer. Finally, when it is done, the rice becomes resilient. Now the rice is ready to serve on our dining-table.
Rice is the most important staple food in most parts of Asia. Asians grow and eat 95% of the world’s rice.
Pertanyaan2nya adalah:
1. What does the text tell us about?
a. The process from grains to rice
b. How to cook rice properly
c. How to harvest ripe grains
d. Rice is the staple food of Asians
e. The process of harvesting rice Jawaban yg benar itu yg A / E ya, Pak/Bu?

Pak/Bu, terima kasih atas jawabannya. Moral text yg benar sesuai jawaban Bpk/Ibu adalah yg A, yaitu "HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY" Bagaimana hubungannya ya, Pak/Bu? Mohon dijelaskan ya, Pak/Bu. Terima kasih banyak.
THE LEGEND OF BANYUWANGIOnce upon a time, in eastern part of Java Island, there was a kingdom ruled by a king. The king’s name was Prabu Menak Prakoso. One day, Prabu Menak Prakoso and his soldiers invaded the Kingdom of Klungkung in Bali. The king of Klungkung was killed on the battlefield, yet his daughter, Made Surati, and his son, Agung Bagus Mantra, were able to escape and hide in the jungle.
Prabu Menak Prakoso had a son named Raden Banterang. He was such a handsome young man. One day, Raden Banterang went to the jungle for hunting. It was in the jungle that Raden Banterang met Made Surati. She was then taken to Blambangan to be his wife. Raden Banterang and Made Surati enjoyed a happy life in the palace.
When Raden Banterang was hunting one day, Made Surati was surprised by the arrival of a dirty beggar asking for her pity. The princess was surprised to find that the beggar was her older brother, Agung Bagus Mantra. She promptly squatted and embraced her brother’s legs. However, her great respect of her brother was not well accepted. Instead, Agung Bagus Mantra asked his sister to kill Raden Banterang, but such a request was rejected. He was very angry with her and came up with a sly idea to slander her.
Slowly but surely, Agung succeeded in convincing Raden Banterang that his wife had been involved in a scandal with another man. Asking for compassion, Made Surati tried to tell the truth and denied her husband’s accusation. Hearing his wife’s explanation, the king became angrier and angrier. As a proof of her sacred love, she asked her husband to kill her. As a last request, she asked her husband to throw her dead body into the river. She said that if the water in the river smelled terrible, it meant that she had ever been sinful, but if it smelled fragrant, it meant that she was innocent.
Raden Banterang who was unable to control his emotions soon stabbed his keris (dagger) into his wife’s chest. She died instantly. The dead body of Made Surati was quickly thrown into the dirty river. Raden Banterang was shocked to see the river suddenly become clean and as clear as glass with a fragrant smell. Raden Banterang screamed crazily and regretted his deed. He walked unsteadily and fell into the river screaming, “Banyu……… Wangi……… Banyuwangi!” This means “fragrant water.”
Banyuwangi was born from the proof of noble and sacred love. From then on, the place is called Banyuwangi.
Pertanyaannya adalah:
1. What is the most suitable moral message of the story? a. Honesy is the best policy b. Love needs sacrifice c. It is better to have self control than to conquer a city d. Think carefully before jumping into a river
Mohon maaf, jawaban yang benar seharusnya adalah C. Walaupun menurut kami option jawabannya memang kurang tepat. Menurut kami, pesan moralnya adalah "It's better to have self control before taking decision" atau "Think carefully before doing something".
Alasannya: dalam cerita tersebut Raden Banterang tidak bisa menahan emosi saat diprovokasi oleh Agung, Tanpa berpikir panjang dia langsung membunuh istrinya yang ternyata tidak salah sama sekali. Thank you
Pak/Bu, terima kasih atas jawabannya. Saya bingung kenapa jawabannya yg B ya, Pak/Bu? Mohon dijelaskan. Terima kasih.
Puji : Next week, I’m going to have a vacation. However, I haven’t decided where to go. I like beaches very much. But I also want to visit some museums because my sociology tests are very bad so far.
Andi : ……………
a. There are many kinds of museums in the world. Some of them are natural museums.
b. You’d better think of your study. Museums are not bad at all.
c. There are a lot of museums in our city. I often visit them.
d. Museums do not collect money from the visitors.
Terima kasih.
Thanks

kak tolong jelasin tentang question tag . krmin jg ke facebook q ya kk...............
| You speak English, don't you? |
A tag question is a special construction in English. It is a statement followed by a mini-question. The whole sentence is a "tag question", and the mini-question at the end is called a "question tag".
We use tag questions at the end of statements to ask for confirmation. They mean something like: "Am I right?" or "Do you agree?" They are very common in English.
The basic structure is:
| + Positive statement, | - negative tag? |
| Snow is white, | isn't it? |
| - Negative statement, | + positive tag? |
| You don't like me, | do you? |
Look at these examples with positive statements:
| positive statement [+] | negative tag [-] | notes: | |||||
| subject | auxiliary | main verb | auxiliary | not | personal pronoun (same as subject) | ||
| You | are | coming, | are | n't | you? | ||
| We | have | finished, | have | n't | we? | ||
| You | do | like | coffee, | do | n't | you? | |
| You | like | coffee, | do | n't | you? | You (do) like... | |
| They | will | help, | wo | n't | they? | won't = will not | |
| I | can | come, | can | 't | I? | ||
| We | must | go, | must | n't | we? | ||
| He | should | try | harder, | should | n't | he? | |
| You | are | English, | are | n't | you? | no auxiliary for main verb be present & past | |
| John | was | there, | was | n't | he? | ||
Look at these examples with negative statements:
| negative statement [-] | positive tag [+] | ||||||
| subject | auxiliary | main verb | auxiliary | personal pronoun (same as subject) | |||
| It | is | n't | raining, | is | it? | ||
| We | have | never | seen | that, | have | we? | |
| You | do | n't | like | coffee, | do | you? | |
| They | will | not | help, | will | they? | ||
| They | wo | n't | report | us, | will | they? | |
| I | can | never | do | it right, | can | I? | |
| We | must | n't | tell | her, | must | we? | |
| He | should | n't | drive | so fast, | should | he? | |
| You | are | n't | English, | are | you? | ||
| John | was | not | there, | was | he? | ||
Some special cases:
| I am right, aren't I? | aren't I (not amn't I) |
| You have to go, don't you? | you (do) have to go... |
| I have been answering, haven't I? | use first auxiliary |
| Nothing came in the post, did it? | treat statements with nothing, nobody etc like negative statements |
| Let's go, shall we? | let's = let us |
| He'd better do it, hadn't he? | he had better (no auxiliary) |
Here are some mixed examples:
Maaf Bu Tri, tapi jawaban Ibu untuk pertanyaan saya ini kok masih tetap yg C ya? Pertanyaan saya buat Ibu adalah: kenapa kok jawabannya C, soalnya yg hilang itu cuman topinya saja, tasnya masih utuh. Sedangkan pilihan C itu bunyinya: 'he was unable to find his BAG' Mohon penjelasannya sekali lagi ya, Bu Tri. Terima kasih.
Once, a cap seller was passing through a jungle. He was dead tired. He needed rest urgently. He spread a cloth under a tree and began to rest. He placed his bag of caps near him and lay down with a cap on his head.
The cap seller had a sound sleep for one hour. Then he suddenly got up. The first thing he did was to have a look at his bag. He was at the first startled when he found all his caps missing, though the bag was intact. He thought and thought but couldn’t understand where the cap could have gone. Indeed, he was greatly puzzled.
All of a sudden, he looked toward the sky. In the branches of the tree, he saw several monkeys. Each of them was wearing a cap on his head. Evidently, they had seen the cap seller wearing a cap and imitated him.
He decided to get his caps back by making a humble request to them. In return, the monkeys only made faces at him. Then, he began to gesticulate. They too began to do the same. He even raised his fist toward them as if to threaten them. They only imitated him.
He began to think. At last he hit upon a clever idea. “Monkeys are great imitators,” he thought. So he took off his own cap and threw it down to the ground. All of the monkeys followed suit instantaneously. He stood up and collected all his caps, put them into his bag and went away.
Pertanyaannya adalah:
The complication started when ……………
a. he passed the jungle
b. he had a sound sleep for two hours
c. he was unable to find his bagd. he saw several monkeys wearing caps
e. he made a humble request to them
