Compare these two sentences:
We haven't heard from him for 10 years. He may/might/could have died.
He was very careless when crossing the road. He might/could have died.
The first sentence expresses uncertainty. We don't know what happened to him; maybe he died. The second sentence involves possibility; it was possible for him to die but he didn't. Note that in this meaning we cannot use may + perfect infinitive.
As we see could and might + perfect infinitive can express past certainty or past possibility depending on the context. Yet, in the sentences below, for example, only one meaning is possible (possibility).
I could have caught the bus if I had hurried.
If he hadn't been drunk, he might not have died in the accident.

Brush a final coat of glue over all the pictures when they are in place. Allow to air dry. The surface should be level and smooth to the touch when it's dry. If not, add another coat of glue.

Cut paper to fit the inside of the box. Glue the paper and set into place. Let dry.

Di sekitar lingkungan kita ada dataran tinggi, dataran rendah, lembah, bukit, gunung, atau pegunungan. Begitu pula di laut, seperti di daratan bentuknya tidak rata. Apakah yang menyebabkan permukaan bumi ini tidak rata?
Terjadinya bentuk muka bumi tersebut diakibatkan oleh adanya dua tenaga yaitu tenaga
endogen dan tenaga eksogen. Tenaga endogen adalah tenaga yang berasal dari dalam
bumi. Sedangkan tenaga eksogen adalah tenaga yang berasal dari permukaan bumi. Untuk
lebih jelasnya tentang kedua tenaga ini, Anda ikuti penjelasan berikut dengan seksama.

Bentuk Muka Bumi di Lautan
Pernahkah Anda menyelam sampai ke dasar laut? Jika pernah, tentunya Anda bisa
berceritera bahwa seperti halnya di daratan, bentuk muka bumi di lautan juga tidak rata.
Relief dasar laut tidak begitu besar variasinya dibandingkan dengan relief daratan. Hal
ini disebabkan karena lemahnya erosi dan sedimentasi. Relief dasar laut terdiri dari
bentukan-bentukan berupa:
1. Palung laut atau trog adalah daerah ingressi di laut yang bentuknya memanjang.
Contohnya, Palung Mindanau (10.830 meter), Palung Sunda (7.450 meter), dan
sebagainya.
2. Lubuk laut atau “basin” terjadi akibat tenaga tektonik, merupakan laut ingressi dan
bentuknya bulat. Contohnya, Lubuk Sulu, Lubuk Sulawesi, Lubuk Banda, dan
sebagainya.
3. Gunung laut adalah gunung yang kakinya ada di dasar laut. Kadang-kadang puncak
gunung laut muncul tinggi di atas laut. Contohnya, Gunung Krakatau, Maona Loa di
Hawaii.
4. Punggung laut merupakan satuan atau deretan bukit di dalam laut. Contohnya,
punggung laut Sibolga.
5. Ambang laut atau drempel adalah punggung laut yang memisahkan dua bagian laut
atau dua laut yang dalam. Contohnya, Ambang Laut Sulu, Ambang Laut Sulawesi,
Ambang Laut Gibraltar, dan sebagainya.
